Hi! I’m Kelly and welcome to my blog.
This is my 6th year teaching Spanish 1 to middle school students in Nebraska. I love Spanish so much and have two Master’s Degrees (one in Spanish and one in Education). During my studies, I lived abroad in Spain and later did a post graduate research stint in Perú.
My created curriculum and activities includes a variety of comprehensible input, TPRS, movement, high frequency word units, music, novels, and film. I really strive to create and use activities that are not only useful and educational, but FUN!
I became a Spanish teacher after I worked at our prestigious local hospital for 7 years. During my time there, I used Spanish to help translate for nurses, doctors, and the entire healthcare team. With the flexible schedule I had in this position, I was able to travel all over the globe and really comprehend the nuances of different dialects and languages. This was a very fulfilling career; however, did not lend itself to scratch my creative itch that I was yearning for. I decided to take the leap and become a teacher and haven’t looked back since.
Constantly learning and perfecting my craft has led me to pursue a Doctoral degree in Educational Administration so I can have a full scope of how our schools run and work. My other school duties are to coordinate our Academic Counseling Program to help at-risk youth find success in school and in their personal lives.
I started this site as a way to connect with other Educators and to share my ideas and resources I have made for my classroom. Apart from teaching, some of my other hats that I wear is being a mom to three littles, wife, serial podcast listener, coffee taster, gardener, and teaching piano lessons for the past 13 years.
Thank you for visiting my space and supporting me on my journey to be the best teacher and friend that I can be.
